Snow-Ventures

At long last, winter hit Oklahoma. We got a massive 1.5" of cold white winter wonderful.

Before 7 a.m. Maddie had informed me several SEVERAL times that she wanted to build a snowman, WITH a carrot nose. (She wore out a Frosty DVD at Christmas.) Of course all I can think of is wet frozen feet, frostbitten cheeks, snot-cicles... And of course I worried the girls would be too cold also.
I rounded up double layers of sweats, gloves, hats... But what to do for their feet? I found Grace's old rubber "deer hunting boots" that fit Maddie perfectly. For Joie I put on my thinking cap and had the genius idea to cover her feet with snack size ziplocs between layers of socks. That way maybe her feet would stay dry. (For the record it worked really well. Her first layer of socks were bone dry when we came in.)

Here they are ready to go. In my head I heard "I can't put my arms down!" Over. And. Over.

They had the best 15 minutes of their lives. However, in all my layering them to perfection I neglected to properly insulate myself, and as a result, almost died. One of my ears shattered off and is outside on the ground, but they had a BLAST.

And of course, they made the best snowman ever, with some help from Mama. Don't be jealous.

I had to lure them in before I died with the promise of hot cocoa. First time for that too. They are fans.

Thats pretty much it! We survived their first ever snow-venture.
Well, all except my ear.
